He was born in 1839 in Ireland and died on January 1, 1902 in Madison, IL. His Medal of Honor information and citation is: HORAN, THOMAS
• Rank and organization: Sergeant, Company E, 72d New York Infantry
• Place and date: At Gettysburg, Pa., 2 July 1863
• Entered service at: Dunkirk, N.Y.
• Date of issue: 5 April 1898
Citation: In a charge of his regiment this soldier captured the regimental flag of the 8th Florlda Infantry (C.S.A.).
