Private John Ammon was born in Menallen Township, York, PA and married Jane Elizabeth Geiger in September 1780. John and Elizabeth had nine children.

John served in the Revolutionary War but I was not able to find where he served or who he served with. He died on April 25, 1827 and is buried in St. Paul's United Methodist Church Cemetery.

When I visited this cemetery, there were Revolutionary War markers in front of two graves, both named John Ammon. Please be sure to view the correct one, the second John is John and Elizabeth's son and was not born until 1785 so he didn't serve in the Revolutionary War.
