For many decades, public viewing of the Ring Dam at Chaudière Falls has only been possible from outside the ring at river parks such as Parc des Portages in Hull, Québec. In 2018, park space has been created within the hydroelectricity generation complex. Viewing platforms and interpretive signs are on site.
Built between 1907 and 1909, the Ring Dam has provided a regulated flow of water for the many electricity generation stations here. Rafts of timber no longer pass around the dam. Generating stations, old and new, continue adding electricity to the grid.
