This mural was commissioned by the couple who once owned the building at 124 E. Broadway, to depict the Sundown Drive-In which was once a focal point of entertainment in Cushing.

The Sundown Drive-in was located east of town on Highway 33, at Norfolk Road. It had one screen and places for parking of 287 cars. Opened prior to 1955, this drive-in was a popular meeting place on weekends. Today, all that remains is the concession stand, the foundation for the screen tower, and the parking ridges.
This mural was painted by famous muralist Bob Palmer and his students. It shows scenes of the drive-in around the mid 1950s. Cars shown dated from 1956 to 1958. On the south end, a sign reads Entrance / Sundown Drive-in. A concession stand can be seen, as well as several '50's vehicles, and the movie screen showing John Wayne in "Stagecoach". On the north end, is an exit arch with a sign reading "Thank You / Hurry Back".
