First Presbyterian Church is located at 301 E. Moses. This is a two-story brick building with a fully exposed basement level. Every window on the first and second floors is stained glass. The first floor windows are one-over-one with geometric stained glass and starbursts. The second floor windows are set in doubles with a brick arch over the two units. On the east and west sides of the church at the second level, are large arched windows in 10 segments. These windows have a large stained glass scene of Jesus as the Good Shepherd, surrounded by segments with geometric and floral designs.
A most fascinating stained glass window is the one above the main entrance on the north. This is a stained glass war memorial. The church was constructed in 1920, just two years after the end of World War I. This window shows a uniformed Naval and Army veteran with a flag. It reads "Dedicated to those who served in the World War". We had never seen a stained glass war memorial before, and stood in awe.
This church is a wonder, and well worth a visit for those who love stained glass.
