An information board at Rutland Water nature reserve, near Normanton church, on the south shore of the lake. The board and map highlights various places of interest around the reservoir, as well as some of the wildlife that may be seen.
"Rutland Water Nature Reserve is managed by the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust in Partnership with Anglian Water. It provides one of the most important Wildfowl sanctuaries in Great Britain, regularly holding in excess of 20,000 waterfowl.
The Reserve holds several important designations, including Site of Special Scientific interest (SSSI), a European Special Protection Area (SPA) and an internationally important wetland suite (RAMSAR).
Created alongside the reservoir itself the Nature Reserve is suitable for all manner of wildlife interests and for beginners and experts alike. There is a varied events programme which ranges from wildlife walks to traditional countryside crafts."
