Henri Martin-Granel is the principal master glassmaker of Notre-Dame. It is however another artist, Claude Idoux, who realizes the big window of the choir. Indeed, this stained glass window is funded by subscription, launched by the newspaper Sud-Ouest, and Claude Idoux is chosen by the religious and municipal authorities to design it, without intervention of Gillet. It is posed as early as 1958. Claude Idoux is not new to the subject; he has already made glass windows in the church of Saint-Rémy in Baccarat, using the colored crystal slabs developed by the renowned crystal factory of this city. This same material is used at Royan, to represent a Virgin in Assumption. The canopy fits perfectly into the large "V Lafaille" of the choir.
In red, blue and gold tones that illuminate the nave, the motif is inspired by the "Virgin of the miraculous medal" of the Rue du Bac in Paris, famous popular image of the apparition of the Virgin, in 1830, to a sister of the Daughters of Charity. She is represented at the Assumption, a halo of twelve stars, the prolonged mantle of solar rays, on a globe where a snake is moving. According to the vision of this Sister, the ball represents both the whole world, France and each one of us in particular. The demon seeks to extend his hold and Mary hinders her walk by treading underfoot. The rest of the iconography proceeds, more traditionally, from the text of the Apocalypse: "A grandiose sign appeared in Heaven. A woman having the sun as a mantle and the moon under her feet and on her head a crown of twelve stars "(Rev 12.1).

Henri Martin-Granel est le principal maître-verrier de Notre-Dame. C’est cependant un autre artiste, Claude Idoux, qui réalise la grande verrière du choeur. En effet, ce vitrail bénéficie d’un financement par souscription, lancé par le journal Sud-Ouest, et Claude Idoux est choisi par les autorités religieuses et municipales pour le concevoir, sans intervention de Gillet. Il est posé dès 1958. Claude Idoux n’est pas novice en la matière ; il a déjà réalisé des verrières dans l’église de Saint-Rémy à Baccarat, en utilisant les dalles de cristal coloré mises au point par la cristallerie réputée de cette ville. Ce même matériau est employé à Royan, pour représenter une Vierge en Assomption. La verrière s’inscrit parfaitement dans le grand « V Lafaille » du chœur.
Dans des tons rouges, bleus et dorés qui illuminent la nef, le motif s’inspire de la « Vierge de la médaille miraculeuse » de la Rue du Bac à Paris, célèbre image populaire de l’apparition de la Vierge, en 1830, à une Sœur des Filles de la Charité. Elle est représentée lors de l’Assomption, auréolée de douze étoiles, le manteau prolongé de rayons solaires, sur un globe où s’agite un serpent. Selon la vision de cette Sœur, la boule représente à la fois le monde entier, la France et chacun de nous en particulier. Le démon cherche à y étendre son emprise et Marie entrave sa marche en le foulant aux pieds. Le reste de l’iconographie procède, plus traditionnellement, du texte de l’Apocalypse : « Un signe grandiose apparu dans le Ciel. Une Femme ayant le Soleil pour manteau et la lune sous ses pieds et, sur la tête, une couronne de douze étoiles » (Ap. 12,1).
