This TN historical marker detailing the Army of Tennessee's winter residence is located next to the Ganoe-Bussell log cabin. It is in a grassy area on the west side of Jackson St.

Withdrawing to this area after the Battle of Murfreesboro, Gen. Braxton Bragg established his command post near here. Other units went into defensive winter quarters at Bell Buckle, Shelbyville & Wartrace. Here they remained until late June, 1863, when maneuvers by Rosecrans, commanding the Army of the Cumberland forced withdrawal southward.
