[DE] "Im Jahr 1889 wurde auf Franzensfeste ein kleiner Obelisk aufgestellt, der einen geodätischen Fixpunkt markiert. An dieser Stelle treffen ein Breitengrad und ein Meridian aufeinander.
Es handelt sich um einen der sieben Messpunkte, die in der k.u.k. Monarchie zwischen 1878 und 1890 angebracht wurden, um die exakte Höhe über dem Meeresspiegel der Adria anzuzeigen. Die weiteren sechs Hauptfixpunkte oder Urmarken bestehen heute noch in Ungarn, Rumänien, in Slowenien und in Tschechien; in Österreich befindet sich keine.
Die Urmarke der Franzensfeste liegt auf 736,4520 m.
Die Inschrift lauetet:
"Hauptfixpunkt des Präzisions-Nivellements in Österreich-Ungarn, ausgeführt in Verbindung mit der Europäischen Gradmessung. Errichtet: 1893."

[EN] "In 1889 a small obelisk was erected at Franzensfeste, marking a geodesic fixed point. At this point, a latitude and a meridian meet.
It is one of the seven measuring points that are used in the k.u.k. Monarchy between 1878 and 1890 to indicate the exact height above sea level of the Adriatic Sea. The other six main fixed points or primary brands still exist today in Hungary, Romania, Slovenia and the Czech Republic; there are none in Austria.
