Campus Smokey - OSU - Stillwater, OK - Smokey Bear Sign Sightings on Waymarking.com

This historic fire station is part of a Fire Protection and Safety program which began back in 1937 on campus. The station was built in 1939 and served as the fire training center, the first of its kind associated with a college. Today, the station is part of the Stillwater Fire Department and is still in active service.

At the southeast corner of this station, this is a painted metal Smokey, who is standing alongside a metal sign which can be changed to show the daily Fire Danger. During our visit in the summer of 2018, it was hot and dry and the area was under a Burn Ban.
