From the Reading Eagle: Frederick Lauer has one of the most unusual graves in Charles Evans, a brown stone pyramid with a heavy door, ornamental wreath and patriotic wings overhead. Lauer was the first president of the U.S. Brewers Association and a philanthropist. His brewery was torn down in 1942, and the land is now home to Lauer's Park Elementary School.
Although too old to serve in the Civil War, Lauer raised volunteers for and outfitted Company H of Pennsylvania's 104th regiment. (
