As I was out taking pictures of old buildings in Douglasville, I happened to stop at the Brinton Lodge and then I happened to be approached by the owner who gave me a little tour. The Brinton Lodge is a 300 year old house, possibly the second oldest house in our county. The owner had purchased it several years ago and converted part of it into a brewery where he makes food and beer from local, mostly organic, farm products. I was fascinated by the history as he told me the names and dates of the various owners and how the house had grown through 3 centuries. But he really piqued my interest when he mentioned that the house was haunted. So, of course, as soon as I got home, I had to do some research on it and found that indeed, it is listed as a haunted house and they offer ghost tours. As we ere standing in the yard talking, I noticed someone peeking out of a third floor room. I pointed it out to my host who nonchalantly said, "That's one of our ghosts." I don't know if he was kidding or telling me the truth.

A well known British medium, Don Galloway, had visited the house and found that there are five spirits lingering in the home. He identified the spirits of three former residents who had all died there, a spirit he called Dapper Dan and the spirit of a troubled little girl.

Tours are usually offered on Friday and Saturday nights and sell out quickly. The price of the ticket is $15. If you are interested in taking one, please check Brinton Lodge's website for accurate dates and times.
