The Colbert Town Hall is located just off Highway 75 in the southwest part of town. It is located in a large metal building, with the police department offices included, and the fire department located at the south end.
Colbert is a town of about 1200 residents. It was first settled in 1853 and is named for a member of the Colbert family who were influential with the Chickasaw/Cherokee tribe, after marrying into the tribe. A ferry was operated at Colbert to cross the Red River, and in 1858 it was a stop on the Butterfield Overland Mail route. Cotton and peanut farming have been a mainstay of the town. They have a mayor/city council form of government, however, we were unable to find a website for the town.
