This is the famous End of the Trail statue by James Fraser. It's quite an impressive piece and a local landmark.

This statue was made for the Panama Pacific International Exposition held in San Francisco in 1915. The original was made with plaster over a wood and wire frame. It was bought by Tulare County and moved to Mooney Grove Park after the Expo.
Plaster does not hold up well to the elements and it soon began to deteriorate. The original was later bought by the Cowboy museum in Oklahoma City with the stipulation that they make a full size bronze to take it's place in the park. That bronze is the statue you see on display. The original is on display indoors at the Cowboy museum.
