This quarry was mostly used to extract the stone for the building of the nearby Aqueduto dos Pegões, created to supply water to the Templars castle and monastery in Tomar.

Closest village to the place is Pedreira (which means precisely "Quarry").

Access is by dirt road followed by a few hundred meters walk.
