In addition, our current church does not preserve any artifact of this Carolingian period. However, the current building has sought to reproduce the old, at least for the facade: the gable follows the inclination of the monument's roof as it was before; the three doors are no longer hidden but real. Likewise, the building was very much inspired by Maillezais with regard to the interior (dome, octagonal vault, motif of the capitals ...). The building remains sober with ornaments if it is not a few capitals which deserve a greater interest.

“In 1864, the participants in the Archaeological Congress of France, XXXI session, went to Saint-Pierre-le-Vieux where they discovered: an entirely new church, with three naves which replaced one from the 10th-11th century. A drawing by M. Bouet (p. 98) shows a tombstone of a valet named Lebegues, who died in the 14th century as indicated by the inscription: HIC JACET IOHES LEBEGVES VALETVS QVI OBIIT MENSE SEPTEMBRIS ANNO DNI MCCCXXXII CVM AIA REQUIESCAT IN PACE AMEN Translation by Mrs. M.-C. Par ailleurs, notre église actuelle ne conserve aucun artefact de cette période carolingienne. Cependant, le bâtiment actuel a cherché à reproduire l'ancienne, au moins pour la façade: le pignon suit l'inclinaison de la toiture du monument telle qu'elle était auparavant ; les trois portes ne sont plus masquées mais véritables. De même, l'édifice s'est beaucoup inspiré de Maillezais pour ce qui concerne l'intérieur (coupole, voûte octogonale, motif des chapiteaux...). L'édifice demeure sobre d'ornements si ce ne sont quelques chapiteaux qui méritent un plus grand intérêt.
