The Wells Fargo Center, originally known as First National Bank Tower, then First Interstate Bank Tower, is the tallest building in Portland, Oregon. It stands at 546 feet with 41 floors (there is no 13th floor). It borders SW 5th Avenue, Columbia and Jefferson Sts.Upon opening in 1972, the tower dwarfed all other high-rise buildings in downtown Portland. Public outcry over the tower's height and the potential of new and taller buildings to block views of Mount Hood led to height restrictions on all new and future development.
The building and the sky bridge connected four-story building were designed by Charles Luckman Associates. The Wells Fargo Center is also the Regional Headquarters for Wells Fargo. The main bank lobby is the location of Portland’s Wells Fargo & Company Historic Exhibit. Banking Hours: Monday-Friday 9-6.
