"In 1971, the church was purchased by Ernie Arteaga. During the next few years Ernie made repairs, built a garage and living area, and built a courtyard. He began living there in 1977. In 1990, Ernie re-met and married Diane, a girl he had previously dated in high school. After their marriage, they began renovation to make the church a family room for their home. .....
...[moved the antique store in 2000] "and added a Tea Room. Benches from the church were utilized by being made small and used as booths. In addition to offering lunch, the Tea Room hosted rehearsal dinners and receptions. Wedding photos were taken on the curved stairway in the Arteaga's Church-Home.
"In 2008 the Antique and Tea Room were closed. Since their retirement, the Arteaga's continue to call the Old Methodist Church their home. And the Antique Store & Tea Room, next door, is the contemporary artist gallery of Fraser Leonard." ~ Augusta Defience New Melle - 2014 Residence's & Visitors Guide
