"Michael Spiteri (known as Kilin ) (the Rabat , Malta, 20 August, 1917 - Msida , 8 July, 2008) was a Maltese writer.
His mother and father were Kilin Anna Azzopardi and Diego Spiteri. They had ten children of whom three died in childhood. Kilin says that when he was small he would die great b'xemxata.
Kilin at first seemed to be promising in school because I was a child who had an interest in everything he wanted and was determined to succeed. He took his secondary education at the Lyceum.
The nickname "Kilin" began to use it when once heard someone calling someone else and this name Kilin pleased.
Kilin started writing in 1966 when he was 31 years old and most loved was to write prose, like novels, novels and essays in Maltese.
His first literary works were published mood (1970) and mood 71 (1971).
The most well-known work is Kilin On the Eye of San Sebastian (1973). After wrote after the Eye of San Sebastian (1994) and The Age of Bajtar Cook (1996) which continued the recollections of childhood and youth. But Kilin stated that most pleases book was Tlikki Tlikki with Wenzu.
Kilin is the author of four novels: The Ghafrid (1975), Eight Days in Dragonara (1984), The Imsahhar Carpet (1995) and Do not forget, Publius, Remember! (2003).
In 1998 the novels collected in the book Eye Kalang to raise moral framework of life, with sweet and bitter with her.
He translated The God I do not Contains (1983) by Spanish and issued a series of five booklets Chapels and Small Churches (1967), I confess (1968), houses the Queen (1969 Osanna (1978).
Wayside Chapel (1966) and A Maltese Mosaic (1990) are the English version of these books.
Kilin also wrote some poems.
Kilin remained voice heard in the newspapers often complain on the changes experienced by ilsienna.
In 1973 he won the Rothmans Prize for Literature by the play With Irgulija and with honesty , which appeared in a book with the same title along with a collection of short stories.
In 1981, Eight Days in Dragonara (released in 1984) won second prize in the contest Bugelli.
In 1999, the novel The Ghost Dell was in second place among 842 novel competition held in Italy. The novel was a Maltese and Italian qalibha himself.
On 13 December 2000, was awarded the Medal for Service to the Republic by the President of Malta then Guido de Marco.
A few months before he died birthday 90 years with the Maltese Academy onoratu remembrance for hard work and tirelessly throughout his life for the Maltese language.
He was married to Guza Mifsud and had seven children, 17 Grandchildren and 12 Great-granchildren.
He made many years living with Msida and lived there until he died.
Kilin family was loved, so that repeatedly stated that to properly take care often had to do six jobs.
Michael Spiteri was also set on the certificate Chess and loved going to sit quiet in the countryside and depicts.
