The plaque says, "Constructed in 1893 by pioneer physician John M. Evans and his wife, Jennie, this house was placed on the National Register of Historic places in 1976 as a notable example of Queen Anne – Style architecture. Acquired in 1981 by the State of Arizona through the efforts of Representative Polly Rosenbaum, the Evans house was restored in 1988 by Phillip B. Gordon, Historical Preservation advocate.
