La chapelle est située à l'est de Vernègues, dans le parc du domaine viticole du « Château-Bas » situé le long de la route reliant Vernègues et Cazan.

Historique
Le site fut initialement occupé par un temple romain du ier siècle avant notre ère, le temple romain de Château-Bas.
Au xie siècle, une chapelle romane fut adossée au temple, dont elle réutilise partiellement le mur oriental.
Cette chapelle fut consacrée en 1054.

Architecture De dimensions réduites, la chapelle est construite en pierres de taille assemblées en grand appareil. Elle est couverte d'une toiture de dalles calcaires soutenue par une corniche moulurée et sommée d'une croix en pierre.
Le chevet semi-circulaire est percé de deux fenêtres situées au ras du sol et surmontée chacune d'un puissant arc monolithe.
La nef, très courte, n'est éclairée par aucune fenêtre. La porte se situe sur la façade nord, blottie contre le mur oriental du temple romain.
La façade occidentale de la chapelle réutilise le soubassement du mur oriental du temple romain ainsi qu'une dizaine de blocs du mur oriental proprement dit, le reste étant constitué de moellons. Cette façade occidentale est percée de deux baies géminées.

The chapel is located to the east of Vernègues, in the vineyard park of "Château-Bas" located along the road linking Vernègues and Cazan.

Historical The site was initially occupied by a Roman temple of the first century BC, the Roman temple of Château-Bas.
In the eleventh century, a Romanesque chapel was attached to the temple, which it partially reuses the eastern wall.
This chapel was consecrated in 1054.

Architecture Small in size, the chapel is built of stone assembled in large unit. It is covered with a roof of limestone slabs supported by a molded cornice and surmounted by a stone cross.
The semicircular apse is pierced by two windows located at ground level and each surmounted by a powerful monolithic arch.
The nave, very short, is not lit by any window. The door is located on the north facade, nestled against the eastern wall of the Roman temple.
The western facade of the chapel reuses the base of the eastern wall of the Roman temple and a dozen blocks of the eastern wall proper, the rest is made of rubble. This western facade is pierced by two twin bays.
