Nestled in the Irvine Regional Park, you will find the Orange County Zoo. It is a small zoo featuring a collection of animals that are generally found in the local area.
Some items of interest are:
- There is a small petting zoo in a simulated farmyard setting. Food is available for a nominal fee. The animals are behind fences, so you will not be able wandering among them.
A Bald Eagle and Golden Eagle are on display. Check out the gallery for a picture of the Bald Eagle and other animals.
- Other special indiginous animals include Owls, Bears, Mountain Lion, and Wolves. I have never seen the beaver come out of hiding.
- There is a set of benches for storytelling time and roaming docents with "Discovery Carts".
Near the entrance there is a
Penny Smasher and a
Waterfall.
