This abstract sculpture is carved from light and dark stones and is on display in Howland Plaza within Riverfront Park near the Willamette river in downtown Corvallis. A newspaper article briefly highlights this sculpture and reads:

Taking a direct inspiration from the Willamette is the abstract “Heart of the Valley” by Stuart Jacobson, which depicts Corvallis as a sphere nestled between two columns representing the Willamette Valley and the Willamette River.
