These two guardian lions are standing at the entrance to the chinese community grave plant on the Ohlsdorf cemetery, which was established in 2007. They are made of white marble.
The right lion is male and holds a ball under his right paw. The lion on the left is female and holds a lion cub under the left paw. The lions are standing for power and strength. The ball, originally a pearl, symbolizes the unity and power of the empire. The lioness with the cub represents the prosperity of the offspring, growth and well-being. Lions should have the power and strength to keep out bad influences of any kind.
