Unfortunately little is found online for the origin of the Cathedral (rather the church's 'Heritage' site refers more to other old buildings of the precinct. (visit link)

This is an imposing and large, red brick building, with the entry from the corner of Duke and Victoria Streets (tho Government mapping shows it as 71 Fitzroy Street, Grafton!) There are several Dedication Stones, for various renovations and additions to the original Church/Cathedral. The exposed beams of the rafters are quite impressive. Take time to check the multitude of Stained Glass Windows, as many either swivel, or have an opening peak of the Gothic arch.

* Memory of architect of Extensions, J. Munnings: 29 September 1937
* Completed Nave and Baptistry: 30 October 1937
* Consecrated 14 September 1959
* Centenary Commemorations: 25 July 1984

The main Services are on Sunday, with the "Sung" Eucharist at 8.00 am, and the "Contemporary" Service at 9.30 am. There is also the Holy Eucharist on Wednesdays at 10.00 am.

Indirectly the Church's 'Heritage' site confirms the Centenary Commemorative plaque in the Cathedral for the building or opening of the Cathedral in 1884.

* The Cathedral is open most days between 8.30am and 6.00pm. *

At the intersection of Duke and Victoria Streets, there is the Doberer family Fountain, where a pair of black swans appear to be ready to take flight away from the Cathedral.
