Wassermühle Bad Essen
Die bereits 1359 als bischöfliches Lehen erwähnte und vom Mühlenbach gespeiste Wassermühle wurde um 1780 in ihrem jetzigen Zustand als kleiner Wasserständerbau errichtet. Der untere Teil des Gebäudes besteht aus einer 40 cm dicken Bruchsteinmauer. Seit 1948 im Eigentum der Gemeinde Bad Essen, heute Wahrzeichen der Ortschaft. 1984 wurde ein aus abgelagertem Eichenholz angefertigter Mahlgang mit Stock- und Kammrädern wieder eingebaut, so wie es die alte Mühlbautechnik vorsah.
Das Mühlenrad mit einem Durchmesser von 5 Meter wird durch das Wasser aus dem Mühlenteich angetrieben. Da das Wasser oben dem Rad zugeführt wird, spricht man von einem "oberschächtigen Wasserrad". An den Enden der Hauptwelle befinden sich Metallzapfen die in "Katzensteinen" gelagert sind. Die Zapfen benötigen zur Schmierung nur Talg.
Von April bis Oktober ist die Mühle jeweils Sonntags in Betrieb. Das Mühlendiplom: Von 14.00 bis 18.00 Uhr erklärt der Müller die Funktionsweise der Mühle und anschließend kann jeder Besucher sein eigenes „Mühlendiplom“ ablegen.

Owned by the municipality of Bad Essen since 1948, today it is a symbol of the village. In 1984, set of grinding stones of seasoned oak wood was rebuilt with stick and comb wheels, just as the old mill technology foresaw.
The mill wheel with a diameter of 5 meters is driven by the water from the mill pond. Since the water is supplied to the top of the wheel, it is called an upper water wheel. At the ends of the main shaft there are metal pins which are stored in "cat stones". The spigots only need tallow for lubrication.
From April to October, the mill is open on Sundays. The Mill Diploma: From 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, the miller explains how the mill works and then every visitor can file their own "mill diploma".
