This is a nice park in the city of Fayetteville, and a nice place to relax, read, or take a walk. The focus of the park is the Old Stone Bridge, and there are several historical artefacts and markers on the grounds. Many benches are placed around the park.

Stone Bridge Park

In January, 1997, the City of Fayetteville entered into an agreement with the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency for a disaster assistance grant for hazard mitigation. This grant was expanded to 1.5 million dollars to purchase and remove houses in the floor plain. A total of 20 parcels were purchased in this area.
The birth of the park was derived from finding a beneficial public use of the land. The most significant historical site in the county, a stone bridge across the Elk River, ironically was destroyed by the 1969 floods before it could be preserved as a park.
This passive park is to serve as a memory to the bridge and a passing of history for all citizens of Fayetteville and Lincoln County.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen appreciate the assistance of both TEMA and FEMA for not only helping mitigate a problem, but preserving a part of our history.
