Ornately carved stone pulpit. Being set into a corner it only has two sides the upper part very detailed, the lower part comprising three round columns, infilled with plain stone.
From the church history website at (
visit link) :-
Mrs Sale (the wife of the vicar) was a self-taught artist and personally knew many artists of the day. She carved the pulpit: this replaced an oak pulpit. The brass book rest and reading lamp on the pulpit were given to the Church by Rev Sale in 1893. Mrs Sale also carved a stone reading desk: this stood where the lectern is now sited but was removed in the 1970s. Both the reading desk and the pulpit were copied from Ravenna.
