Kinnettles is a rural area three miles south of the town of Forfar in the county of Angus. The Kirkton is a small hamlet on the B9127 road that runs through the parish. It consists of a group of houses and two former churches, the parish church, now a private dwelling, and the Free Church which became the Duncan Hall in 1919, and it is in front of here, facing the road that the World War I memorial stands.
It is in the form of a celtic cross with wheelhead that adorns the top, carved in relief with celtic interlace. Below, a plinth tapers to an octagonal stepped base. Facing the road is the inscription and names in lead lettering, the inscription reads:
'1914-18 in GRATEFUL MEMORY of the GLORIOUS DEAD'
