Wagoner County Courthouse - Wagoner, OK - WPA Projects on Waymarking.com

Wagoner is the county seat for Wagoner County, an area with a population of around 79,000. The current courthouse was a project of the WPA and was completed in 1940. Additions to the courthouse/jail were made in 2001-2004 and include wings on either side of the old courthouse, and in front.

The original WPA structure is three stories in height and built of buff colored brick in a running bond. The courthouse is rectangular, with slight projections at either side of the rear elevation, and the center third of the facade. The roof is flat, with a concrete frieze, and concrete caps on the projected walls. The county website indicates that the WPA shield is located inside. They have, however, re-located a small portion of the original concrete walk with the WPA stamped shield, and inset it in the concrete of the newer front addition.

The courthouse houses the three County Commissioners, the county court and jail, and offices of other administrative departments. The courthouse is open Mon-Fri from 8:00-4:30 and is located in the 300 block of Cherokee Street.
