EN: The granary of Zunzgen stands in the old village center on Sperrmattweg. It has a masonry base with a cellar. The wooden superstructure has a steep saddle roof. The ground floor is slightly recessed on the south and east side and the upper floor is supported by beams. On the lintel and the edges are remnants of a painting in red and black.

In the past, these wooden granaries were widespread, as the medieval wooden farmhouses had neither cellars nor other storage facilities. With the advent of stone houses and the disappearance of the ancient pole framing roof construction from the 15th and 16th century, the storage rooms were integrated into the farmhouses, so that free-standing storage facilities were no longer needed. To date, only four of the old wooden granaries have been preserved in the canton.

DE: Der Getreidespeicher von Zunzgen steht im alten Dorfzentrum am Sperrmattweg. Er besitzt einen gemauerten Unterbau mit einem Keller. Der Oberbau aus Holz hat ein steiles Satteldach. Das Erdgeschoss ist an der Süd- und Ostseite etwas eingezogen und das Obergeschoss mit Balken gestützt. Am Türsturz und den Kanten finden sich Reste einer Bemalung in rot und schwarz.

Früher waren diese Holzspeicher weit verbreitet, da die mittelalterlichen Holzbauernhäuser weder Keller noch andere Möglichkeiten zur Lagerung der Vorräte besassen. Mit dem Aufkommen von Steinhäusern und dem Verschwinden der Ständerbauweise wurden ab dem 15. und 16. Jahrhundert die Speicher in die Bauernhäuser integriert, so dass frei stehende Speicher nicht mehr benötigt wurden. Bis heute haben sich nur vier der alten Hozspeicher im Kanton erhalten.
