This park is one of two of my favorite Hawaiian Parks - the other being Volcanoes National Park. What more could you ask for; $10 admission per vehicle valid for 7 days, a wonderful park with much to do and explore and, my favorite, free camping! We stayed at Hosmer Grove at about 7000 feet in elevation so bring warm clothes. You can get two different stamps in this park; one at the Haleakala Visitor Center (9470 ft elevation), whose coordinates are listed above, on the drive up to the summit of the crater and the other stamp can be obtained from the Kipahulu Visitor Center down near the shoreline of the park. I suggest visiting both areas. If you can wake up early enough, at least 2 hours before sunrise to get ready and make your 45 minute trip up to the summit, you will witness a wonderful sunrise above the clouds. Check with the ranger station first for sunrise times and get there early because parking lot space fills up quickly. Also bring plenty of warm clothes because the temperature can be in the 30 degrees Farenheit range. Spend some time checking out the rare sliverswords and enjoy this moon-like landscape! In Kipahulu, Haleakala extends to the shoreline. Visit this area for the other stamp and hike the wonderful trail up along side a waterfall and into a bamboo forest! There is also Pools of Ohe'o which, when weather and conditions permitting, you can take a swim in nature's own pools. Please no diving! Many people have died or have been severely injured by diving into bodies of water that were not deep enough. The park is wonderful and have fun enjoying it!

To verify your find please post a picture of your cancellation stamp or a picture of your visit.
