Hier, im ehemaligen Abbaugebiet des Braunkohletagebaus Garzweiler wurde nach dem Rückzug der Bagger das Land rekultiviert, Wälder und Felder entstanden und Wanderwege wurden eingerichtet. Insbesondere hat die Stadt Bedburg mehrere Themen-Wanderwege erstellt, darunter den "Arnold von Harff Wanderweg", der dem bekannten Pilger aus Bedburg gewidmet ist.

Wie bei Wanderwegen üblich, wurden entlang der Strecke Wegweiser an Bäumen angebracht. Dieses Schild hier wird allerdings bereits von seinem Baum langsam "aufgefressen". Dabei ist das metallene Schild auch stark deformiert worden. Ganz schön beachtlich für einen so kleinen Baum!
Here, in the former opencast pit area of the lignite mining Garzweiler after the retreat of the excavators, the land was recultivated, forests and fields were created and trails were established. In particular, the city of Bedburg has created several theme trails, including the "Arnold von Harff trail", dedicated to the famous pilgrim from Bedburg.

As usual for hiking trails, marker signs along the route were attached to trees. This sign here, however, is already "eaten" by its tree. The metal shield has also been heavily deformed. Pretty impressive for such a small tree!
