Catalina State Park is located in the rugged Catalina Mountains on the northern edge of Tucson. The park is a popular hiking, biking and geocaching destination. The nature trail has signs alerting visitors to the wildlife that may be seen in the area. Javelina, or Collared Peccary, are common in the area and visitors can see their hoofprints in concrete at this point. The prints are accompanied by an educational sign describing the animals habitat and traits.
