In Boston, along the Neponset River Greenway and near an overpass over the Neponset River, is this mural depicting scenes about Native Americans.
The Neponset River Greenway is a pedestrian path that runs along the Neponset River from its mouth currently to Mattapan. It passes through the village of Lower Mills, which is partly in Dorchester and partly in Milton. The mural is under the bridge to Medway Street, on the north side.
The mural is a single panel of wood with four different scenes. The left scene is of a Native American woman, kneeling, pounding something in a wooden vessel, with a cooking vessel and a wee-too also visible. The lower middle scene show two Native American men looking out over the river: one appears to be in prayer. The scene above this one is of a pumpkin, squashes, corn, and cranberries. The right scene is of another Native American woman standing, cooking fish.
To the right of this is the credit panel. The panel states that this mural was painted in 2007. It was painted by the Boston Natural Areas Network. Jennifer Rydwansky was the Art Director.
