Of course, this culvert is not called Blue and Gold. We have named it that to differentiate it from the dozen or more culverts we found along Hiwassee Road east of Oklahoma City. This culvert is a concrete tunnel approximately 3 ft. high and 10 ft. wide, crossing Hiwassee Road from west to east. It was built in 1936, as shown on the WPA shield stamped into the concrete curbing. The area on the west side of the road has been upgraded by covering the area outside the tunnel with rock, for appearance and to help with ground erosion. The tunnel appears in good condition and handles run-off in the Canadian River bottom.

The Blue and Gold Sausage Company to the west of the culvert is a large and successful company, providing sausage, bacon and chicken tenders as fundraising for over 1,000 churches and non-profits in the four-state region.
