The tenants will be the Trail and District Public Library, Trail Museum and Archives and the Visitor Information Centre, two previously housed in Trail Memorial Centre, at the northern end end of downtown Trail and the third, the visitor centre, presently across the street from the memorial centre. The library will occupy the entire upper floor of the building, which seems quite appropriate given the shape of the building. One's first impression of the building is that it looks much like a pair of books, one resting upon the other, the upper one turned 45 degrees to the lower one. The lower floor (book) is masonry while the upper floor (book) is covered in bronze coloured anodized aluminum.

This is not the first time we have seen such a design for a library building, the new Halifax Central Library being somewhat similar in concept.

The library is due to open April second, in conjunction with the grand opening of the building. While it may be in place earlier, the museum will likely not open until May. The visitor centre will open either April 2nd or 3rd.

A live web camera has been focused on the site since December 8, 2016, shortly after the previous building on the site was demolished. It will allow the viewer to watch the building evolve from nothing to completion.
