There is quite a display for the history of the Mayo Hospital on the north facing wall, to the left of the main entrance. Most of that will be in the "Australian Historical Markers" waymark, but the 'point-forms' of the almost one hundred year long
Timeline are given below:
* 1920 Land purchased in the centre of Taree
by Dr A Muscio and Dr F Stokes.
* 1922 Mayo Private Hospital was opened
with eight beds.
* 1940 Bed numbers had increased to 21.
* 1976 Mayo was purchased by family companies
of Coldham, Taylor and Tjiong. A major
reconstruction was commenced.
* 1997 Mayo Private moved from the centre
of Taree to a new facility on this site.
* 2012 Healthe Care Australia purchased
Mayo Private and a further
redevelopment was completed.

[While dropping off my Father-ex-Law here for some surgery.]
* Incidentally, I started work at Manning Base Hospital in January 1997, when the Mayo Hospital was still located in the centre of Taree business area, and it seemed to be in a large house, which was demolished to make way for the Hungry Jacks outlet (and car park) on the corner of Wynter Street and Manning Street.
* I used to live a couple of kilometres past the current Mayo Hospital - towards Wingham, and used to cycle past the hospital most days on my way to work for about 8 years.
* There is NO known direct association between this Private Hospital in New South Wales, and the "Mayo Clinic" in Minnesota, USA. *
Mayo Hospital History Wall: "Our Past"; with the Operating Theatre block directly behind it.
