The station was built in 1907 for the Goderich-Guelph railway line. The first train left on August 26, 1907. The last passenger train left in 1955 and the last freight train left on December 16, 1988.

In 2013, the station was relocated to this spot from its original location nearer the bluff. The owner of the building had a goal of opening a destination restaurant and meeting facility in the building and having it closer to Lake Huron would be ideal. He did just that and the business is doing well.

When operating as a train station, passengers could wait in the either the men's or women's waiting areas which had decorative plastic features and large ornamental medallions on the ceiling. They could also wait outside under the canopy that circled the entire building.
