At the end of an unnamed dirt track, this functional station looks onto the dangerous entrance to Lake Macquarie as boats enter the Swansea Channel to get into Lake Macquarie.
I got myself sidetracked as I was looking for an Earthcache, and found this Marine Rescue Station, that works in conjunction with the Marine Rescue one at Pelican.
"Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie is available 24/7 for weather reports, radio checks, bridge bookings and of course assists. We also provide a Log on/Log off service for your safety and our Marine Rescue NSW Network will track vessels Coastal Cruising. All our highly trained members are volunteers, whose time is spent manning the 24/7 radio base at Swansea Heads and our rescue vessels based at Pelican." [ex-Website]
Yes, the Swansea Bridge is an Opening Bridge, and that would need to be arranged for taller vessels.
