Tiger Historical Center & Museum is also a Visitor Information Center, Gift Shop and Rest Area. It is noteworthy to note that this is the very last of what remains of Tiger. Only the ghosts and tourists frequent this location. It is somewhat out of the way, however this is a must stop if you are in the area.
According to the sign on this butter churn it was patent December 18, 1817. The date is stamped on the hand crank wheel mount. The box is metal, predominantly tin, square shaped and sits on a metal frame. Paddles were inserted to churn the cream into butter.
This was a common item used on local farms, where just one milking cow or several were kept. Considered an essential appliance for the busy homemaker, reducing the labor intensive job of making butter. Though this butter churn does not bare a manufacture name the most common known was made by the Dazey Churn Company of St. Louis, Missouri. This style was their first model manufactured.
