In Boston's Dorchester neighborhood is the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
The cemetery is located near the southern boundary of Boston, near the Neponset River Estuary. It is bounded by Granite Avenue, Milton Street, Adams Street, Butler Street and the Neponset Greenway (a pedestrian path). Going through the cemetery is the Mattapan section of the MBTA Red Line. The trolleys that run on this are historic "PCC" trolleys, which ran in other cities in the 60s and 70s.
The cemetery is an irregular plot of land that slopes generally south to the river. The roads through the cemetery are curved and paved. Trees are present throughout the lot. The main entrance is at the intersection of Adams and Milton, while another entrance is off Butler Street.
The graves are in various shapes and condition. Also, there are mausoleums. There is a Civil War monument with soldier graves roughly in the center. Beside is another site with graves for a home for aged women.
On Findagrave.com the number of plots is estimated to be 4866.
