EN: The Botanical Institute of the University of Basel is located since 1896 on today's location on the Schönbeinstrasse. The institute hosts several herbaria, which together contain around one million plant specimen. Many of them are digitally accessible today.
The six collections also include that of C. Bauhin, which dates back to the founding of the Institute in 1589 and is one of the oldest in the world, as well as the Renz Collection, the world's largest orchid herbarium.
Five of the six herbaria can be found in the Index Herbariorum under different codes: BAS, PAE, RENZ, BASBG. They are all at the same address.
DE: Das Botanische Institut der Universität Basel befindet sich seit 1896 am heutigen Standdort an der Schönbeinstrasse. Das Institut beherbergt verschiedene Herbaria, die zusammen rund eine Million Pflanzenbelege enthalten. Viele davon sind heute digital zugänglich.
Zu den sechs Sammlungen gehören auch jenes von C. Bauhin, das auf die Gründung des Instituts 1589 zurückgeht und eines der ältesten der Welt ist, sowie die Sammlung Renz, die weltweit grösste Orchideensammlung.
