This 70-meter-long bench sculpture is located on the Gertrudenkirchhof in downtown Hamburg.
After a competition, which was won by the architects Möller & Tradowski, Hamburg, the Gertrudenkirchhof was redesigned in 2006 in the quiet downtown location. The elevated area has been cleverly incorporated into the design: the difference in height to the roof of a bunker is overcome by means of a staircase. Crossing the steps, a bench sculpture was erected across the square. Laterally on the outer edge of the wooden bench, a light strip is attached. In the evenings, the contour of the bench is emphasized while providing interesting lighting.
The bench was manufactured by Lehner WerkMetall from Nittendorf.
