The Garmisch-Partenkirchen Tourist Office built this nature trail along the Partnach between Bahnhofstraße and the Olympic ski stadium. It is approximately 1.6 km long and access is easy and free.
Merkur.de informs us that "the geological, nature trail 'The Stones of the Alpine Space' started in 2015 is now complete. 120 exhibits from the five Alpine countries line the longest nature trail of this kind in Germany and probably all over Europe. Among them are gabions, polished stone tablets on the seawall, smaller stones set on pillars, a "gem stone" decorated with precious stones from five continents, and original stone games for children to find.
Twelve information and display panels are in place, the heaviest stone weighs 3.5 tons, the oldest specimens are more than 500 million years old.
'We are moving something' is the advertising slogan of the local tourism association, on whose initiative the nature trail was created. And that is exactly what the club members have done with this new tourist attraction, for which the association of tourist guides has meanwhile offered professional excursions."
The coordinates were taken at the beginning of the trail. See our 8 photos.
