As described by the NGS in 1994 (note: the station was already monumented in 1942, by the CGS):
"ALONG HOUSTON AVENUE [OLD HUMBLE ROAD], 15.5 M (50.9 FT) SOUTH OF THE CENTER OF AN ENTRANCE ROAD LEADING TO THE CEDAR PONDS SUBDIVISION, 8.8 M (28.9 FT) WEST OF THE ROAD CENTERLINE, 4.6 M (15.1 FT) SOUTH OF UTILITY LIGHT POLE NUMBER 320948, 0.4 M (1.3 FT) WEST OF A WITNESS POST, 0.3 M (1.0 FT) BELOW THE LEVEL OF THE ROAD, AND THE MONUMENT IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND SURFACE."
The 1994 NGS description is still quite accurate, and so are its distance estimates. FYI, it is quite possible that you will NOT immidiately spot the benchmark as it may be covered in ~1 inch of dirt... just look for its associated deteriorating witness post to orient yourself: the BM is just South of a tree trunk located at the southwest corner of S. Houston Avenue and Cedar Ponds Drive.
The NGS' currently posted coordinates ("N 29 58 15.1 W 095 15 47.3", or "N 29° 58.252 W 95° 15.788") were reasonably in line with my observations: my measurements came out to "N 29° 58.251 W 95° 15.789", as measured within 10' accuracy and 10+ reading averages.
The station was recovered in 'decent' condition. It has some scuff marks but is still quite legible.
