Depot Park - Ardmore, OK - Municipal Parks and Plazas on Waymarking.com

Depot Park is a work in progress at the time of this posting. The area will have walks and landscaping, and will highlight Locomotive 1108, the "Mercy Train" which is an icon in Ardmore history. Previously on display on Lake Murray Drive, five or six streets south of the depot in a park (see earlier Waymark (visit link) it has been moved to Depot Park, and will be the center focal point of this park.

The locomotive is mounted on a slightly uphill piece of track with a circular concrete patio area surrounding it. Its story is that it was used to bring doctors and nurses to Ardmore in 1915 after a disastrous explosion that killed 43 people.

This park may not have picnic and recreational activities, but the park is still being developed and various items will continue to be added as community financial support allows.
