The SFA Theatre opened in the 1950s along North Street near the campus of the Stephen F Austin University. The closed in the 19 eighties and sat vacant and derelict until acquired by Stephen F Austin University. The University has restored the neon and the theater department now uses the theater to advertise their events, practice their plays, and make scenery for other productions.
In 2017, the colorful neon still burns bright in the Texas night. Blasterz enjoyed seeing it several times as we went up and down North Street during a weekend in Nacogdoches.
