La tour rappelle la tour forte romane construite par le seigneur local vers 1300. Les armoiries ont été enregistrées en 1697. Elles sont sont gravées en 1688 sur les termes séparant le terroir de Sanary de celui d’Ollioules. Les palmes sont un symbole chrétien et rappellent que Saint-Nazaire, patron de la ville, a été martyrisé en 66 sous Néron. Elles seraient allusives : Saint-Nazaire > Sanary (prononciation provençale).

The arms of Sanary-sur-Mer are emblazoned as "Azure a tower of silver masoned sand, openwork of a door and two skylights of the same, surmounted by a silver cross and side two palms of gold, the stems passed in saltire ".
The tower is reminiscent of the strong Romanesque tower built by the local lord around 1300. The coat of arms was registered in 1697. They are engraved in 1688 on the terms separating the terroir of Sanary from that of Ollioules. The palms are a Christian symbol and recall that Saint-Nazaire, patron saint of the city, was martyred in 66 under Nero. They would be allusive: Saint-Nazaire> Sanary (Provencal pronunciation).
