This Broken Column memorial is also sculptured from marble, with brass infill inscriptions, and is badly stained. It has a 'laurel wreath' on the column. The base has a tiled cover over the interment area. It is standing vertically.
The 'main' side has the inscription on a sculpture scroll, with a few leaves sculptured on it. It reads:
In Loving Memory of
My Dear Husband
& our Father
David Dow
Native of Scotland
Died 19th Sept.
1918
Aged 61
Years
On the base, below that inscription, is another message/prose:
"A sudden change in a short time fell
I had not time to bid my friends farewell.
Think it not strange death happens unto all
My lot to-day, to-morrow you may fall."
The dates of: 7 July 1857 - 19 Sept 1918 had been gleaned from 'Googling', and checking cemetery sites
The 'left-hand' side inscription reads:
In Loving Memory of
our dear mother
AGNES DOW
Died 24th Nov. 1944,
Aged 85 years
[24 June 1859 - 11 Nov 1944] was given for Agnes Dow on Googling, so there is a discrepancy somewhere.
